What is the Wandering Ashram? A open letter to the inquisitive

What exactly is the Wandering Ashram?

The Wandering Ashram Yoga & Meditation School is a 200 hour foundational yoga training, and a 300 hour advanced yoga training school that is registered with Yoga Alliance. W.A.Y. (Wandering Ashram Yoga) has operated in many locations (hence the name) to include Rhode Island, Wiesbaden Germany, Kansas, Grafenwoehr Germany and now Kentucky.

Graduating 49 yoga teachers so far, the goal of Wandering Ashram is to share the gifts of yoga with the world! Yoga can seem out of touch, confusing or not possible to understand for many people and the aim is to make the practice understandable, inclusive and applicable to daily life. The Skillful Living Teacher Training program offers students the opportunity to engage with life through the scope of yoga. Living in a state of yoga equals living an optimal life. Training allows these teachings to be shared with others.

200 hour training is being offered in Radcliff, KY starting January 9, 2021. Training consists of 2 weekends a month for the months January- April. Upon graduation, new teachers will be certified to lead yoga and meditation private sessions and group classes. Subjects covered in training include; yoga philosophy, lifestyle, ethics, anatomy, postures, breathing techniques, meditation, mantra and mindfulness practices, and business application.

Yoga is a growing industry and we need yoga more than ever in these times. Yoga for me which includes how I eat, how I move, how I breathe, how I communicate, how I operate. The practice has given me the freedom to understand that in order to live my life to the fullest, I have to participate and not back away from what is happening but rather engage with the ups and downs in a SKILLFUL way. If you want to share this journey with me and start living yoga, I would love to chat with you and answer your questions. One of my favorite yoga quotes by Alan Finger: “Yoga adds years to your life and life to your years.” There is no right age to start yoga, yoga is for every person in the world at any age.

Much Love,

Teacher Training…The Inward Journey

The Wandering Ashram Yoga & Meditation School’s Spring 2017 class is set to graduate this Sunday at the Leavenworth Yoga Co-Op.  These dedicated & compassionate students are now 200 hour yoga teachers.  Their training has been intense and sometimes painful with hours of sitting, practicing, breathing, meditating, coloring, listening, reading, journaling, drawing, thinking, snacking, wandering and laughing…  All this has led to their transformation.  They all came to teacher training curious with an open heart and open mind.  They allowed me to guide them towards their goal of learning more about the practice of yoga and learning how to teach this ancient art.  The Yoga Sutras says that the word “understand” is a combination of two words: “under” and “stand”.  And to understand, or learn something, we must stand under.  These students all stand under yoga.  They are ready to teach and guide others.  The gratitude I have for them is infinite.  They are a true inspiration, they embody love and light and I thank them for allowing me to guide them on their journey.   lotus

Reiki Sessions

Reiki Q & A

What is Reiki anyway?

That was what I wanted to know when I first heard a friend mention it a few years ago.  How does it work?  Does it actually work?  How can I experience this healing art?  Questions, questions and more questions.  So here is the deal on Reiki.  It is an ancient Japanese technique that is used to naturally heal through touch.  This technique is based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

How long does a session last?

A session (treatment) lasts about 45 minutes and is done fully clothed.  You simply lie down on the massage table and allow yourself to enjoy the feeling of reconnecting with your own energy as well as feeling the energy of the healer.  The process involves light toughing of the hands and some hovering of the hands over specific parts of the body.  The idea is that whatever blockages you might have in your body become unblocked allowing you to return to your natural state of peace and optimal health.

How do I book an appointment and how much does it cost?

Call, text or email the Wandering Ashram to set up a session.  Cost is $50.00 for 45 minutes.

Who benefits from Reiki?

Everyone!  Reiki sessions can benefit anyone at anytime.  It is especially helpful though when you are experiencing emotional stressors or creativity blockages.
